Veronica Maggio’s favorite places to eat in Stockholm

Marie Laveau
My favorite way to spend a Sunday is to have a very late brunch, starting at 3pm, at Marie Laveau on Mariatorget. They have insanely good milkshakes and everything else you could ever wish for after a long night out on the town.

Pastis
I never hang around in Gamla stan (the Old Town). I see it mostly as a big tourist trap, a place where I’ve never managed to learn to find my way around properly. But if I’m going to the Pastis restaurant, I’m more than happy to be there! Eating there is like being in Paris. The world’s best food, old Art Deco furnishings, and really nice people.

Van der Nootska Palace
Sometimes you just want to be somewhere where there isn’t a MacBook on every available table and where there’s none of that general hipster stress. That’s when you should have lunch at Van der Nootska. A 17th-century palace right by Mariatorget. Beautiful, quiet, and good home cooking.

Bananas
Two things I love are neon and pizza. You’ll find both at Bananas. The pizza may take a little while, but it’s worth it.

Gelateria Italiana
There’s nowhere better than Rålambshovsparken for spending a day in the sun with my son. The playground there is really great, there’s a swimming pool nearby, and in summer they have open-air movies in the park. If it gets too hot, you can just go to Gelateria Italiana and enjoy some of their excellent Italian ice cream.
