Food & Drink
Stockholm’s best traditional food restaurants
Riche, Operakällaren, Teatergrillen, and Stallmästaregården – all are Wretman restaurants. In his book Kökspojken (Kitchen boy), Wretman describes how his parents decided he would become an apprentice chef – because then he would never starve. Years later, he introduced nouvelle cuisine to Sweden.
Wretman is also the man behind a number of Swedish classics including Toast Skagen, possibly the world’s best shrimp sandwich, which remains as modern today as when it was first introduced in 1958.

Lisa Elmqvist
Like Wretman, Lisa Elmqvist is a Purveyor to the Royal Court. Her namesake restaurant can be found in Östermalmshallen, where tantalizing aromas and flavors tempt hungry shoppers.
